Snoopy Is Multiplying

Along with Carowinds announcement of Intimidator today, the park has also revealed that Planet Snoopy with be taking over their Nickelodeon Central kiddie area as well.

Other parks have quietly confirmed the change as well, Kings Dominion has it listed on their season pass page and California's Great America has it listed on their events page.

Now we just need Kings Island to announce the change and Nickelodeon and Hanna-Barbera are officially done at Cedar Fair. Kings Island would be a more 'intense' change though, as they're large, themed kiddie area is consistently rated one of the best around. Maybe it will be more involved than the others?

I have to wonder if kids know who Snoopy is these days.... Perhaps this is temporary until the economy bounces back and attendance increases, but who knows since the licensing was up for renewal next year. I'm willing to bet that with the Nickolodeon themed hotels and the Nickolodeon licensing going to the new park in New Orleans, Nickolodeon asked for a higher fee than Cedar Fair was willing to pay. Maybe CF is playing hardball?

Perhaps... but I think it all comes down to the mighty dollar. Snoopy is just plain cheaper to license than the Nick and HB stuff is. It may be a gigantic mistake for the chain, but with their financial situation as is I doubt they're worried.
